Abstract

In order to face the unprecedented challenges in environmental sustainability, there is an increasingly attention regarding the adoption of distributed and renewable energy resources such as microgrids (MGs). However, the stochastic nature of the distributed energy resources (DERs) affect the reliability and sustainable energy utilization which delay the implementation of the microgrids. However, the DERs associate with energy storage systems have attracted increasing consideration due to the charging/discharging capabilities for renewable energy time shifting, smoothing and capacity firming. This study explores an intelligent system configuration method for multiple competitive microgrids considering the cost of system operation. The proposed method is designed to motivate the participation of the microgrids while guarantee the security and economic operation of the distribution systems.
