Abstract

The photonic generation of microwave signals using a long-wavelength signal-transverse-mode vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) subject to parallel optical injection has been experimentally investigated. The relationship between the generated microwave frequency versus the frequency detuning and injection power were studied. The photonic microwave signals with maximum frequency of 14 GHz and tuning range of 10 GHz have been obtained.
