Abstract

Differential reflectometry and Auger electron spectroscopy are used to investigate the mode of growth of Ag on Si(111)-7 × 7at 400 and 90°C. At high temperature, 3D islands form which give rise to an intense optical absorption. At low temperature, very flat and extended islands cover a large part of the surface, above an initially dilute Ag layer.
