Abstract

Optical reflectance spectra of (Pb0.78Sn0.22)1−x InxTe with a high indium content have been studied at T=300 K. Spectral features related to composition heterogeneity in the solid solutions were revealed. An assumption has been made that these heterogeneities are manifested as systems of ordered “threads.” Direct evidence of the existence of heterogeneities in (Pb0.78Sn0.22)1−x InxTe has been obtained by studying the surface morphology using optical and scanning electron microscopy.
