Abstract

AbstractThe optical properties of metallic nanowires (NW) grown in a dielectric template are investigated. The metallic NW of copper or of silver were grown into the nanoporous structure of commercially available alumina membranes. The optical reflectance of the metallodielectric samples prepared at different conditions are compared to each other and to unfilled alumina membranes. A simple model based on the Bruggeman approximation can be used to understand the results and to compare them to the bulk material. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
