Abstract

(100)-Orientation preferred BiFeO 3–(Na 0.5Bi 0.5)TiO 3 thin films with single perovskite phase and good crystallinity were successfully deposited on glass substrates by chemical solution deposition. X-ray diffraction analyses showed that the addition of (Na 0.5Bi 0.5)TiO 3 to BiFeO 3 can suppress the formation of secondary phases, promote the (100)-orientation growth, and improve the crystallinity of the films. Dense microstructure with evenly distributed grains about 100 nm was observed by scanning electron microscope. The optical measurements showed that the films have a conspicuous absorption in the blue and green light region and band gaps around 2.8 eV. These results demonstrated that BiFeO 3–(Na 0.5Bi 0.5)TiO 3 thin films deposited on glass substrates are promising candidates for optoelectronic or photovoltaic materials.
