Abstract

Lamb waves were generated in the ablation regime on a silicon plate by focused Nd:YAG laser pulses with different pulse energies. The surface inclination was detected by deflection of the laser probe beam, which was reflected from the back surface of the sample. Knife-edge method and position sensitive photodiode were used to measure the probe beam deflection. Antisymmetric Lamb wave propagation was observed and presented as signal amplitude propagation. From this data dispersion relations were determined.
