Abstract

A method is described for measuring Ga molecular beam flux using optical resonant fluorescence. An elemental hollow cathode lamp acts as the light source, and the fluorescence signal is detected by a filter and a photomultiplier tube. The measured signal is linearly proportional to Ga flux over a range corresponding to growth rates of 0.1 and 2 μm of GaAs per hour.
