Abstract
This article discusses the main types of optical illusions according to one of their numerous classification criteria - the method of their application, as well as the issue of systematization of optical illusions in the structure of this criterion. Consideration of modern variants of optical illusions as a shaping tool with examples of their direct application is the final content of the article.
