Abstract

Luminescence from (nd)6 (n = 3, 4, 5) systems is reported. When excited at 77 °K by visible and near-ultraviolet light, specific complexes of Co (III), Ru (II), Os (II) and Ir (III) with cyanide and organic ligands exhibit unique intense luminescences in the visible and near-infrared regions of the spectrum. Tentative assignments are given for the luminescences on the basis of an octahedral ligand-field model.
