Abstract

An optical sensor based on the phenomenon of light-excited surface plasmon resonance has been investigated to measure liquid chemical concentrations. A white light source is used to excite surface plasmon waves at a metal/analyte interface. The wavelength of maximum absorption in the reflected light depends uniquely on the refractive index of the analyte.
