Abstract
Optical-absorption spectra recorded in the UV-visible range for sodium-zinc-phosphate glasses are presented and the estimated values of the optical band gap energy are found to lie in the range 3.0–3.7 eV. The glass density and refractive index for the present samples have also been measured. Some other parameters such as molar volume, ion concentration, width of band tailing, and constantB (related to the Mott-Davis equation) have been worked out to characterize these glasses.
