Abstract
Abstract Birefringence measurements of Rb2ZnBr4 single crystals were performed over the temperature range covering the normal-incommensurate (Ti ≈ 350 K) and incommensurate-ferroelectric (Tc = 191 K, on cooling) phase transition points. The first order character of the lock-in transition at Tc was confirmed. Other crystal optical data like the principal refractive indices and dispersion of the optic axes were also measured.
