Abstract

Sensitization of Poly (methyl methacrylate)-Zinc Oxide (PMMA-ZnO) composite with different conducting polymers was performed for comparing and observing the enhancement in the optical, electrical and thermal properties of the sensitized composites. Surface morphology reveals the distribution of different conducting polymers over the surface of PMMA-ZnO composite covering the spherical morphology. Crystallographic information from X-ray diffractograms confirmed the synthesis of composite and also the sensitization by unveiling the characteristic peaks for PMMA, ZNO and different conducting polymers such as polyaniline (PANI), polypyrrole (PPY) and polyindole (PIN). PMMA-ZnO composite sensitized with polyindole (PIN) was found to be actively absorbing the visible wavelength of the spectra exhibiting the optical band gap value of 1.32 eV. Current response for applied voltage was enhanced for PIN/PMMA-ZnO along with thermal stability which made it suitable to use as active layer in hybrid solar cell application.
