Abstract

Nanoscale Ag particles uniformly embedded in BaTiO 3 thin films were prepared by radio-frequency cosputtering technique. The measurement of optical absorption was made on as-deposited and annealed samples. The experimental results indicated that no absorption peak was observed in as-deposited sample, but the absorption peak appeared after the sample was annealed at high temperature. The interaction between external molecules and the surface of small Ag particles seems to have strong influence on the absorption peak of small Ag particles.
