Abstract
It is shown that light absorption by colloidal cadmium selenide quantum dots (with an average dot radius on the order of the exciton Bohr radius for a cadmium selenide single crystal) takes place in the form of an interband electron transition from a quantum level of the valence band to the quantum level of the conduction band of the quantum dot.
