Abstract

AbstractGenetic studies of fish and wildlife populations are increasingly based on highly polymorphic DNA loci. The large number of alleles, and particularly the large number of alleles that are observed in low frequency, have led many researchers to bin alleles. However, most strategies for binning alleles are subjective and may lead to loss of discriminatory power. A computer program that implements the allele‐binning algorithm of Bromaghin and Crape (2005) is described.
