Abstract

(Abstracted from Anesth Analg, 123(4):818–819, 2016) Among the commonly reported and discussed adverse effects of opioid pain management, including constipation, respiratory depression, sedation, hormonal disturbance, tolerance, dependence, and hyperalgesia, opioid-induced hallucination (OIH) or “waking dream” is often overlooked. Yet, this “waking dream” is well documented in literature, as well as forums and blogs frequented by recreational opioid users.
