Abstract
At first, detailed time-dependent numerical simulations are carried out in the case the coupled system of closed-cycle disk MHD generator and line-commutated inverter is connected to the infinite bus through the transmission line and it is clarified that continuous operation of the system is usually possible even under the condition the power line fault occurs near the system. Next, time-dependent simulations are carried out in the case the system and the synchronous generator are connected to the infinite bus in parallel through the common transmission line and it is clarified that the rotor angle swing of the synchronous generator induced by the power line fault can be effectively suppressed by quickly controlling the output power of the system using the power control method already proposed by the authors.
