Abstract

Large international data networks need to be reliable and flexible. The factors involved in achieving this are demonstrated by describing how GE Information Services Ltd (GEIS) has configured its global teleprocessing network. The design criteria used are explained, and the network architecture and internal protocol are described. The method employed to manage and control the network is outlined, and an example is given showing how the different components work together.
