Abstract

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are important molecules participating in various biological process and are highly relevant to various complex human diseases. Acting as regulators, ncRNAs have played critical roles in histone modification, gene expression and gene silencing. In this article, bioinformatics tools and online databases related to various types of ncRNA, particularly lncRNAs, are reviewed and summarized. Particularly, the discussion focuses on the unique features and performance of major computational methods. This chapter is aimed to provide a systematic review of computational approach to study ncRNA regulation and annotation.
