Abstract
A UK farm requested nutritional consultancy after experiencing depressed milk fat and apparent poor animal health and fertility. On-farm investigation revealed poor rumen health, predominantly driven by acidic maize and a lack of functional fibre in the diet. Potential ways of investigating herd rumen health status, potential interventions and future preventative planning are discussed.
