Abstract

In the past, some studies have been published on the fabrication of microstrip patch antennae (MPA) as wearable sensors with 3D printing techniques. But hitherto less has been reported on the 4D capabilities (as one-way/two-way programming) of the thermoplastic substrate printed on fabric for the sensor application. In this study, the patch of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) was 3D printed on the fabric of cotton lycra woven (CLW) fabric (70% of cotton on the warp side and 30% lycra on the weft side) by using fused filament fabrication (FFF) technique. Furthermore, one-way/ two-way programming of the fabricated sensor has been presented as a case study.
