Abstract

Why is it that anybody who talks about European collaboration in research, as Claire Shearman did (Physics Bulletin April 1988 p1 52), never provides a complete review? She made no mention of the Institut Laue–Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, France – the high flux neutron source of which Britain is a partner with France, West Germany, Spain and Switzerland.
