Abstract
We show that covariant D-algebra methods (for calculating the background field effective action in supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories) can be applied at one loop if, for matter loops, one uses only a chiral superspace ( x +, θ α ) in the perturbation theory. The covariant D-algebra allows considerable simplifications in the calculation of higher-point Green functions and imposes constraints on the form of the one-loop contribution from chiral multiplets.
