Abstract

Single-crystalline silver-tetracyanoquinodimethane (AgTCNQ) nanowires were synthesized by a facile solution method and fully characterized. The as-obtained AgTCNQ nanowires are very long and have controlled phase and smooth surfaces. The diameters of nanowires are 100–200nm and the lengths are 10–100µm. Moreover, prototype devices are fabricated on the basis of individual AgTCNQ nanowires and display good electrical switching. The facile synthesis and unique electrical properties of AgTCNQ nanowires paves the way for the future nanoscale electronics, especially in ultrahigh-density information storage.
