Abstract

Carbon dioxide (CO2), as a greenhouse gas, have reached up to ca. 400p. p. m. in the atmosphere, which are leading to the political targets and scientifi c/technological efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. Green plants in nature, through photosynthesis, use their chloroplasts to convert carbon dioxide and water into organic matter, and release oxygen. Herein, we report one facile plasma way for the effective transformation of CO2 into acetic acid in water without any catalyst. One kind of CO2 plasma in water is developed. By this kind of CO2 plasma discharge in water, we fi nd one kind of organic substance with acetic acid structure. This result means a simple and low-cost new technology route to make valuable recycling use of CO2, to be likely to replace the complex catalytic process.
