Abstract

In this paper, a novel fabrication method for manufacturing tubular micro-filtration membrane with mirror-like surface by one step co-sintering without additive doping has been developed. The result shows that the metallic membrane was bonded to the support tightly after sintering at 1250 °C for 2 h. The fine powder content has a significant impact on the integrity of the membrane layer, which is due to the synergistic shrinkage during the co-sintering process. The surface roughness and average pore size of the as-fabricated stainless-steel membranes by the new method are 178 nm and 2.1 μm, respectively.
