Abstract

The rational design of a capping peptide for the synthesis of various noble metal nanoparticles is presented. The peptide contains nonnatural, phosphonated amino acids introduced via the Huisgen cycloaddition reaction for improved binding to mineralized tissue. As proof of the design concept, water-soluble palladium, platinum, silver, gold, and rhodium nanocrystals are synthesized in one step from simple precursors.
