Abstract
Cyanopyridone was prepared by the condensation of cyanoacetamide, substituted arylaldehydes and malononitrile in presence of pipyridine. The structure of the synthesized compound CP 1-20 was assigned on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, <TEX>$^1H$</TEX>-NMR and mass spectroscopy. These compounds were also screened for antimicrobial activity. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of all the synthesized compounds was compared with standard drugs.
