Abstract

A facile one pot strategy is devised to fabricate hierarchically porous polyurea/silica hybrid based on the stoichiometric balance of multifunctional and difunctional monomers under benign conditions. Ensuing aggregates (25–50 µm) revealed the presence of micro, meso and macropores with pore size ranging from 1.7 to 74 nm. Highly tangled fibrous morphology manifested the BET surface area of 17.53 m2/g. Hyper-crosslinking and incorporation of silica network engendered high thermal stability. This N-rich polyurea/silica hybrid is expected to find applications in the domains of water treatment and selective CO2 capture.
