Abstract
One-Dimensional Cutting Stock Optimisation by Suborders
Highlights
Material cutting can be studied from different viewpoints [1]
This paper introduces a method for solving a one-dimensional cutting stock problem by suborders
The optimisation of a practical example of cutting steel bars is shown in order to illustrate the use of S-CUT
Summary
Material cutting can be studied from different viewpoints [1]. One of them is trim-loss minimisation in one-dimensional stock cutting [2]. The suborders are generated and in the second the trim-loss is minimised. They face the same problem of how to cut ordered items out of what are generally different stock lengths to minimise the trim-loss [7] and maximize the utilization of stocks [8].
