Abstract
Excitation curves have been determined from γ-ray yield measurements for four heavy-ion induced reactions involving the transfer of one or two neutrons. The incident heavy ions were 18O and 19F in the lab energy range from 12 to 30 MeV. Excitation curves are presented for the following reactions: 9Be( 19F, 20F) 8Be, 9Be( 18O, 19O) 8Be, 23Na( 18O, 17O) 24Na and 23Na( 18O, 16O) 25Na. The one-neutron transfer from 9Be is characterized by a very large cross section as compared with other one-neutron transfer cross sections that have been reported, while the two-neutron transfer from 13O to 23Na has a cross section nearly as large as the one-neutron transfer. A theoretical curve has been matched to the experimental curve for the 9Be( 18O, 19O) 8Be reaction at energies below the Coulomb barrier, and from this comparison reasonable values for the single-particle reduced widths of the neutron in 19O have been obtained.
