Abstract
A simple on water approach for the synthesis of novel tetrahydropyrimidine (THPM) derivatives has been developed under a green and sustainable fashion. For the first time, a deuterated Biginelli’s hybrid was synthesized. Novel THPMs are suitable for further derivatization and could be an excellent toolkit for lead-oriented synthesis and/or cross-coupling reactions. • On water approach towards 2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyirmidines. • For the first time Biginelli deuterated compound is synthesized. • Olefinated Biginelli hybrids could be an excellent toolkit for lead-oriented synthesis. • Achieved outcomes will be a foundation for the future development of the Bignelli chemistry.
