Abstract

Abstract A discussion of some improved fibre–matrix interface models in the 3D stability analysis of a composite material at the micro-level is carried out. “Improved” means exact satisfaction of all the interface and boundary conditions, arising in a 3D micromechanical problem statement. The possibility of application to the fibre and matrix of some material models, such as isotropic linear elastic model at small deformations, highly elastic material with Treloar potential, or an incompressible elastoplastic material with power relationship between the stress and strain intensities, is discussed as well. Classification of problems in relation to the fibre–matrix interface models is carried out.
