Abstract

The purpose of the article is to outline the structure of one particular flower, the tulip, as well as to investigate and analyze the visual aspects that reliably characterize the meanings contained in the tulip representation. Paintings by artists based in Latvia, created between 2011 and 2021, which clearly track the author's vision of the use of the tulip image, reflect its ideas and hidden symbols, have been selected for analysis. Thus, the cultural-historical background, the individual motivation of the artist, the interaction of ideas, as well as the possibilities of transformation of tulip motifs in the still life paintings are marked. Evaluating these creative processes allows us to see comprehensive relationships, to anticipate possible social changes, as both the context and the visual of works of art are one of the tools for the development of society and the understanding of modern identity.
