Abstract

Motor rotor system is a key component of the outdoor unit of air conditioners, in which porous bearings are usually adopted to support the rotor. The tribo-dynamics performance of the motor rotor system is highly affected by the porous bearing characteristics, especially the lubrication and wear properties of bearings may result in instability of the whole system. Since there is no relevant research yet, a comprehensive tribo-dynamics model of the motor rotor system is established in this study. The lubrication and wear properties, thermal effect, and edge modification of porous bearings are explored. The results show that a proper edge profile can reduce the temperature rise of the lubricant and is beneficial to bearing wear and rotor dynamics.
