Abstract

We study the transformation properties of the spin-wave states in f.c.c.L12 structure ferromagnetic alloys, such as CoPt3, MnPt3, Fe3Pt, FeNi3, FePd3. We use the Heisenberg model and the noninteracting spin-wave approximation. It is shown that for particular points or lines of symmetry in the Brillouin zone it is possible to find eigenstates of the Hamiltonian on the basis only of symmetry consideration. Finally we show that the group-theoretical characterization of the spin-wave states is useful when considering neutron scattering by spin waves in the above materials.
