Abstract
The aim of the paper is to generalize the Palais-Smale condition for nonsmooth function s over closed and convex sets in terms of th e lower Dini direct ion al derivative. For an important family of functions we prove th e Palais-Smale condition on every closed and convex set. As an example we consider a boundary value problem with lower a nd upper solutions
