Abstract

Abstract In order to examine the observability of critical fluctuations in uniaxial ferroelectrics of the triglycine group we started from the mear field solution of an Ising model coupled to elastic degrees of freedom. To exhibit size and temperature range of logarithmic correction factors modifying the mean-field theory due to these fluctuations, non-universal parameters of our model have to be determined from experimental data. While logarithmic factors should be observable in various static quantities due to our quantitative analysis of TGS and TGSe, their fractional powers are not expected to be detectable in contrast to uniaxial dipolar ferromagnets.
