Abstract

This article presents a scientific description of allusion as a linguistic phenomenon. The structure of allusion, its difference from a single reference, methods of implementation and direction are analysed. The role of markers of allusion, the importance of accessibility of the material to which the allusion is made, and the connection of allusion with knowledge of cultural information are also considered. Two ways of implementing allusion have been identified - nomination and quotation. The article emphasizes that, unlike other figurative means of artistic representation, allusion requires a certain degree of knowledge of the connections between the described objects.
