Abstract

Abstract A numerical analysis is presented of the effect on the predicted flame spread rate and flame structure of a prescribed gas velocity field opposing the direction of flame propagation. The calculations are made for two limiting cases of oxygen mass fraction and with Oseen and Hagen-Poiseuille velocity profiles, It is shown that the selected gas velocity profile has a significant influence on the flame spread predictions.
