Abstract
The influence of repeat-unit heterogeneity due to deuteration on physical characteristics on deuterated and nondeuterated PS (the density, glass transition temperature, and temperature of the onset of intensive thermal degradation) have been analyzed. Depending on which characteristics are involved additive changes in PS characteristics may occur as a result of the repeat-unit heterogeneity, and may have either a strengthening or weakening influence on physical properties of the polymer. Composition dependences have been analyzed for all the properties examined with the aid of theoretical relations, and there was good agreement between calculated data and experimental results.
