Abstract
Currently, climate change is increasingly affecting the thermal power plants. The temperature increase in condenser cooling water significantly reduces the efficiency. The paper presents the performance degradation due to changes in temperature and flow of the cooling water. The data obtained in Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant (North of Vietnam) has been simulated on Thermalflow software giving highly accurate results. The data is extracted at unit regular operating loads of 240MW, 255MW, 290MW using software input for the simulation. The result shows that, at the load of 240MW, when cooling water temperature increases by 2°C, the efficiency decreases by about 0.13% to 0.19%. At the load of 255MW, the efficiency decreases between 0.04% and 0.46%, and at the load of 290MW, the efficiency decreases between 0.15% and 0.39%.
