Abstract

The formation of extended stacking faults with extrinsic character, as those which have been observed in InP single crystals deformed by compression in dual or multislip conditions, is discussed from considerations of the core structures of partial dislocations and their respective mobilities. It is also suggested that impurities can stabilize faults with extrinsic character.
