Abstract

The task of forming a vortex couple in a homogeneous non-viscous fluid is investigated numerically. One of the latest variants of the Splitting Method for Incompressible Fluid (SMIF) developed by the authors is used to solve the problem. The finite difference scheme of the method has the following properties: the second order of approximation on spatial variables, minimal scheme viscosity and dispersion, monotony. It is shown that vortex couple is formed only at relatively short distances between the centers of vortexes. As this distance increases, the couple is formed longer in time. In the future, it is planned to take into account the impact of viscosity on this formation.
