Abstract

Purpose – Golf, as an elegant, leisure and social sport, also plays an irreplaceable role in sports. Golf originated in Scotland in the 15th century, with a history of more than 500 years ago. Early golf was mostly played by nobles and nobles. Golf was introduced into Asia in the 1820s. The establishment of Shanghai Golf Club in China in 1896 also marked the formal introduction of golf into China. With the continuous improvement of China’s national economy, people have more time, energy, and money to participate in golf. At the same time, with the development of China’s golf peripheral industries, the participation cost of golf has been greatly reduced. The number of people participating in golf in China has steadily increased. With the return of golf to the Olympic Games in 2016, golf has once again entered the public’s field of vision. At the same time, as an item of the National Games, golf is bound to have a broader future. Design/Methodology/Approach – Under the wave of national fitness, golf has also developed well in Shandong Province. Golf can not only strengthen the body, but also promote the appreciation of real estate around the golf course with the development of golf clubs, and form golf resorts and other sports tourism and holiday industries with golf courses as the core. Brought a lot of tax revenue to the local area. In this paper, the golf industry in Shandong Province is taken as the research object, through SWOT analysis, literature review, data analysis and so on. This paper analyzes the conditions for the development of golf industry in Shandong Province, to clarify the advantages and disadvantages of developing golf industry, and then improve it. Findings – Golf and golf industry can bring a lot of tax revenue to Shandong Province, attract other provinces to travel, increase the local economic level, and promote the common development of surrounding industries. Shandong Province has a good geographical environment, geomorphological features, suitable climate and policy support for the development of golf industry. At the same time, indoor golf in Shandong Province can also reduce the cost of people’s participation in golf, and let people know more about golf. Research Implications – Although the golf course in Shandong Province is limited by the resort attribute, which leads to the high price, indoor golf is a supplement, which makes the golf industry and golf culture in Shandong Province develop healthily together.
