Abstract

Th e article analyzes the linguistic interference in the written liter-ary translation of a book of stories by A.P. Chekhov into the Serbian language by a native speaker of the Serbian language. Th e lexical-semantic and semantic-syntactic levels of interlanguage infl uence in the Russian and Serbian languages are considered. Th e eff ects of destructive interference leading to semantic distor-tions of the original text are analyzed. Th e results of the analysis are a feasible contribution to the study of interference in translation and interpreting in close-ly related languages and could be used for the purposes of applied linguistics.
