Abstract

This article presents a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1\times 6$</tex> slotted linear microstrip antenna array for wireless communication. FR4 epoxy is used as substrate for proposed antenna array having dielectric constant of 4.4 with a thickness of 1.6 mm. The physical size of proposed design is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$5.7\ \lambda_{g}\times 1.5\ \lambda_{g}$</tex> at operating frequency of 4.275 GHz. A linear antenna array with slot has been designed to enhance the bandwidth and gain of antenna to achieve targeted results. The performance of presented antenna has been analyzed in terms of return loss, gain, radiation pattern, VSWR using HFSS 13.0. The proposed antenna exhibits a peak gain of 7.3 dBi and a bandwidth of 350 MHz. Moreover, simulated beam scanning of ± 34° has been achieved in the multi input multi output (MIMO) configuration of the antenna array. The antenna has been fabricated and there is a good agreement between the measured and simulated results
