Abstract

Abstract The dolay time before the onset of plastic deformation has been studied as a function of temperature and stress for indium antimonide in uniaxial compression. The temperature range was 150–350°c, and the stresses were about 10−610−7 dynes/cm2. An empirical relation of the form τ= oonst. [sgrave]−n T exp (E/kT) has been found. A theory of dislocation production is advanced to explain these results.
